New Opportunity for Local/County Competency Card Contactors

Upgrade to State Certified License Without Exam

As of July 2024, an exciting development for local and county competency card irrigation contractors, the opportunity to apply for a state-certified irrigation contractor license is available. If you have held a competency card/local license since June 2021 or earlier, you may be eligible to take this important step to upgrade your license.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for the state-certified irrigation contractor license, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Competency Card/Local License: You must have held a competency card as of June 2021 or earlier
  • Exam Requirement: A passing score on the exam required to obtain a competency card
  • Disciplinary Record: No disciplinary actions in the past five years
  • Criminal History: No criminal history for the past five years
  • Fingerprint and Background Check
  • Experience: Proof of four years of relevant experience in the irrigation field
  • Credit Score: A minimum credit score of 660 is required. If your score is below this threshold, you will need to attend a 14-hour financial responsibility course mandated by the state.

  • Application Preparation and Submission: Our team will help prepare and submit your application, ensuring that all necessary documentation is included.
  • Fee Coverage: We manage the associated fees, allowing you to focus on completing the required steps.

We ask that you will complete the fingerprinting and background check and submit it for inclusion in your application package. A list of live scan fingerprinting locations is provided.

GETTING STARTED

To begin the application process, fill out a PDF payment form and send it back to the Society. Once your payment is processed, a copy of the application is sent to complete. After you have filled out the application and returned it to the Society, we will review it to ensure all details are complete. The application will then be forwarded to CBS for final assembly before being sent to the State. Generally, you can expect to receive your state license within 60-90 days.
