FIS AROUND THE STATE - AUGUST 2025
Miami-Dade Chapter Area
Member Bobby Hartwell, So-Flow Irrigation has challenged area contractors to fight local unlicensed activity in the Miami-Dade jurisdiction. A state or local license is required to install, repair or maintain an irrigation system but individuals as well as local officials have ignored the rules. Hartwell has sponsored a meeting for all area contractors and suppliers scheduled for August 28 to discuss solutions. Invited is Dade County License Enforcement to provide an overview of compliance.
Southwest Florida Chapter
Meeting on a regular basis at either Mission BBQ and Famous Dave’s the second Tuesday of the month has brought together area contractors and suppliers/manufacturers to discuss and find solutions to their area specific issues. Members have provided input into Cape Coral’s new irrigation regulations and a recent meeting brought actionable items to work with CAM’s to provide education and reduce unlicensed activity at HOAs and Condos.
Tampa Bay Chapter
The Tampa Bay Chapter is actively supporting Tampa Bay Water’s Water Wise Rebate Program, which is open to commercial and residential water customers who obtain their water from Tampa Bay Water. The program offers rebates to customers who install pressure regulating spray bodies that are Water Sense labeled, high efficiency nozzles, weather based (ET) controllers that are Water Sense labeled and other system improvements that save water. For additional information, visit TampaBayWaterWise.org. The Chapter is even providing members who are approved through Tampa Bay Water with $200 vouchers to use at the distributor of their choice to help with the initial purchase of rebate approved merchandise. For additional information, please plan to attend our next Chapter meeting in September.
On October 8th, the Chapter will host an afternoon of fun for members and their families as we trade in the meeting room for the golf clubs. We will hold our monthly meeting at Top Golf from 1:00 – 2:00pm and then “hit the links” from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. Appetizers, a Smokehouse BBQ buffet, and dessert will be provided and there will be a cash bar for anyone interested in alcoholic drinks and sodas. Additional details will be forthcoming.
